Monitoring is about setting in motion a range of permanent supervising activities that ensures that the scheduled actions, tasks and events are on-course in meeting objectives, performance targets, and procedures. Monitoring isn’t just about keeping score, but also about being able to act based on the collected information. There is a fine balance between monitoring what really needs to be measured and assessed, and engaging in too much planning or too much monitoring. Monitoring is not a goal in itself, but rather an aid to getting results.
